Q- When is the best time to book a surf vacation in Dominican Republic?
A- BOBO SURf’S UP surf school/camp operates all year long and you can book anytime that is convenient for you. Just let us know when you are coming and we will be sure to make it the best experience! All packages must be booked at least two weeks before arrival to ensure your spots are reserved.
Q- What’s the best way to reserve and pay for the vacation?
A- The best way to reserve and pay for the vacation would be with our online reservations page. Here you can select the dates you would like to arrive, the form of payment and it will be automated through our trusted host. Rest assured we keep all your information private. If you are more comfortable with booking for the trip through other means, feel free to let us know and we will accommodate all your needs
Q- What do I need to bring for this trip?
A-Sun block,sandals,sun glasses,beach towel,summer clothing(for winter time a bring a long sleeve),repellent,surf shorts or swimsuit.
Q- What is the perfect time to arrive at the camp?
A- any time. Camps start on any day.
Q -How do we get around while we are there?
A-We provide transport from the airport to our surf school facilities / lodging,
Q- What’s the cancellation policy?
A- If you need to cancel your reservation 30 days prior to the camp start date, a 25% cancellation fee will be charged. If you need to cancel your reservation 15-29 days prior the camp start date, a 50% cancellation fee will be charged. If you need to cancel your reservation 15 days prior to the camp start, a 50% cancellation fee will be charged
Q- I don’t find any package that I want can I request for customized packages?
A- For sure! all of our packages are to suit your needs ., If you’d like to create a special package for you and your family and friends, please just let us know.
Q: Is there Internet access at the lodge Accommodations?
A: Students with a laptop computer or (other device with Internet capabilities) can access the Internet via Wi-Fi (and it’s free to use)

Q-Can you tell me a little more about DR?

A-Dominican Republic is an independent nation on the island of Hispaniola, second biggest island in the Caribbean, between the island of Puerto Rico and Cuba, part of the Greater Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean region, sharing to the western third part of the Hispaniola island with the republic of Haiti,  making Hispaniola one of two Caribbean islands are shared by two different countries. The Dominican Republic is surrounded in a third by water, having to the north the Atlantic ocean and to the south the Caribbean sea.
Q-What are the local Dominican’s like?
A-Here is relaxing! simply give respect and share .
Q-What is the weather like in DR?
A-The water temperature is always tropical, in the winter it can get a bit fresh and chill, but no wet suit is needed.
Q- How do I get from the Santo Domingo Airport to Cabarete?
A- taxi or buses (we can arrange your pick up)

Q-What is the DR currency?
A- Dominican Pesos. the rates for $1 us dollar = $42.50 rd pesos

Q: Do I need a passport? Do I need a visa?.
A- YES you need a passport and tourist visa (you can purchase a tourist visa with your airline or on entry)

Q: Do I need vaccinations?
A: For the most up to date medical information for travelers check with the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, Ga. U.S.A. www.cdc.gov/travel/camerica.htmMalaria medication and other tropical disease preventatives are usually only recommended if you plan to travel to the remote regions of the rain forest.

Q: How can I get money while in DR?
A: Bring traveler’s checks, or cash. The traveler’s checks can be exchanged at one of our four banks in town. Also, ATM cards with the PLUS system (look at the back of your card). Visa is accepted in most places. MasterCard and American Express are only accepted in a few places. We also have a Western Union office for wire transfers.

Q: How can my family reach me while I am at the school?
A: The student phone number here at the school is 1 809-8825197. There are also several Internet cafes in town where the students can send and receive e-mail. Students with a laptop computer (with wireless network capability) can access the Internet via free Wi-Fi at the school.

Q: Are surfboards provided for the surf sessions?
A: Yes, boards are provided while students are surfing with the instructor. Most of our boards are sizes and shapes ideal for beginners and intermediate surfers(something we recommend to suit on your surf level). We also have a rag of boards rental with all sizes and shapes.

Q: How far is Bobo Surf’s Up school and the Standard, Deluxe, Premium accommodations from the beach?
A: Bobo surf’s Up school is directly on the surf beach. Also our Deluxe accommodation approximately ( 5 minutes walking) to our school and the Standard, Premium accommodations (about 4 minutes drive ) to our school, ” we pick you up every day to go surf”.
Q: What day should we arrive and what day should we plan to leave?
A: Check-in is anytime, any day after 12 PM on your arrival date ,and check-out is at 12 PM on any day of your departure date..
Q: How long do we surf?
A: We have a 2 hours surf lessons ”if you have extra energy” you can practice on your own after the lesson, under our supervision. For more experienced surfers there are breaks that are good at low and mid tides. Also, it depends on individual endurance. Two hours of surfing is a good workout. .” you don’t want over work-outs”

Q: Do we get to surf as much if we take Spanish?
A: The Spanish lessons are in the afternoons, so surf in the morning and learn Spanish in the afternoons.

Q: Can I drink the water?
A: The water from the municipality in the DR is not drinkable so we recommend to drink ONLY bottled water.

Q: What are the ages of most of the students?
A: For the camp we get between the ages of 18 – 45 , but we have hosted students as old as 70’s +, so all are welcome (as long as you are 18 or older). We also teach kids 17 years old under parents authorizations and responsability released

Q: How and where to find air tickets to the DR?
A- good place to look for prices on the Internet is travelocity.com, expedia.com. You will want to fly into Puerto Plata (pop) Airport ,which is the closest airport to us, ONLY 20 minutes drive to Cabarete.

Q: What is the minimum age that students can be to attend?
A: 18 years old .(We also teach kids 17 years old and under with parents authorizations and responsibility released )

Q: Is food included in the price?
A :  Breakfast and some meals and BBQ in the  packages

Q: What type of outlets (electricity) does Costa Rica have and do I need an adaptor?
A: The outlets (electricity) are the same as in the United States (110v). If you are coming from a European country, or Australia, you may need an adaptor.
